Humanity is returning to the Moon – this time to stay.
The Bremen-based startup LIQUIFER Space Systems is working on making long-term lunar habitation safe and comfortable for astronauts, while also developing modular habitats for broader space missions.
The ESA BIC Northern Germany is proud to support LIQUIFER through its incubation program. Founded in 2019, LIQUIFER has quickly established itself as an innovative force in the European space industry. With ESA BIC’s resources and expertise, the company is set to accelerate its technology development.
LIQUIFER’s core products are modular, reconfigurable habitat and interior systems designed for various applications – from low Earth orbit (LEO) missions to Moon and beyond – whether for science, tourism, or private spaceflight.
With a strong interdisciplinary team, LIQUIFER offers holistic solutions to complex space challenges. The company has already contributed to major projects, including the preliminary design and full-scale test model of the I-HAB module for the Lunar Gateway, commissioned by Thales Alenia Space Italia. It has also developed the “Space Home Mock-Up” and other extraterrestrial living concepts.
LIQUIFER collaborates with key industry players such as Airbus, OHB, DLR, and DFKI, and is active across all ESA project phases. Now, as part of ESA BIC Northern Germany, LIQUIFER is positioned at the forefront of shaping the future of human space habitation.
