LEO Post-ISS

Flexible Accommodation and Deep Space Habitat Derisking

Project duration: 16 months

Project start: December  2024

Client: Thales Alenia Space, Italy

Consortium: LIQUIFER Space Systems

Task: support Thales Alenia Space with flexible accommodation and deep space habitat derisking

Future long-duration missions preparing missions beyond low Earth orbit

This study outlines the conceptual baseline for the technical design of flexible accommodation systems in support of deep space habitat derisking. It includes the development of preliminary technical requirements and concepts, with traceability to subsequent design levels and an initial definition of verification strategies.

A key outcome of the work is the preparation of a Technology Maturation Plan to identify and address technological gaps between current capabilities and those needed for the proposed solutions. The overall objective is to enable the safe, efficient, and adaptable deployment of habitat systems for future long-duration missions in LEO post ISS.
